Along with its commitment to selling newer and cleaner battery technology, Radio Warehouse has recently launched an industry-wide battery recycling program, which aims to "take back" end-of-life, two- way radio batteries and "give back" rebates to users and community organisations. "As an organisation, we recognise our products are vital when it comes to addressing emergency services, public safety and national security communication needs. However, we also recognise the implications certain products in our industry, such as recharagable batteries, have on the environment," said Madeleine, Radio Warehouse's "Take-Back Give-Back" Program Coordinator. To address this issue, Radio Warehouse spent a few months researching into possible options to help lessen its industry's environmental impact. It was discovered rechargable batteries were actually one form of waste relatively easy to recycle and there were initiatives set up, such as Planet Ark's RecyclingNearYou.com.au, to already help individuals and businesses lessen their environmental impact. Through this research, "Take-Back Give Back" was developed. "For us, this program is not just a CSR activity. For Radio Warehouse, it's about creating awareness and setting a benchmark for better environmental business practices in our industry. Through this program, we hope our industry and users alike will see how simple it is to do good and that despite limited time and resources, we all can take small steps to lessen our environmental impact" she concluded.
